Thanksgiving 2013

by Kellye Tilford So, here it is. New Year to do lists came and went. Spring break happened. Graduates walked across the stage. Summer, in her fashion, went way too quickly. School began. Tree tops phased through the most delightful of Fall colors. And, here we are. Thanksgiving. We all know when Thanksgiving comes, so does Christmas decor in the local shops! After eating some pumpkin pie, we ostensibly wake up to Christmas morning; and somehow, 2013 is over & 2014 makes its grand appearance. Somewhere in these months is the glorious day you discovered that God had granted you the gift of growing a baby! A due-date circled, highlig...

I Place My Hope {Giveaway}

Psalm 25 In you, Lord my God,     I put my trust.  I trust in you;     do not let me be put to shame,     nor let my enemies triumph over me.  No one who hopes in you     will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those     who are treacherous without cause.  Show me your ways, Lord,     teach me your paths.  Guide me in your truth and teach me,     for you are God my Savior,     and my hope is in you all day long.  Remember, Lord, your ...

Happy Third Birthday, Gwendolyn Hope

Today is the 3rd birthday of Gwendolyn Hope Cushman, daughter of Hope Mommies Founders, Blair and Erin Cushman. To celebrate Gwenny's life and the legacy that her parents have built for her, giving the hope of Christ to grieving families, we wanted to do something special! Gwendolyn Hope Cushman was born on October 18, 2010, and entered the arms of Jesus on October 20, 2010. To honor the time she spent with us on earth, as well as her parents who have so courageously given their lives to loving and encouraging other families broken by loss, all donations made between October 18 and October 20 will be eligible for a FREE gift from Hope Mommies! ...

Prayer

This has been on the forefront of my mind lately. Mostly because our Pastor/Teacher has been preaching an incredible series on Prayer the last several weeks but also because there has been a renewed push in Hope Mommies to build up our prayer team, recognizing its importance as more and more moms and families are finding us.   I have been Spirit-motivated more than ever to pray. There seems to be an increasing amount of circumstances all around me that can only come through if God makes it happen. Last month I transitioned from several years of camp ministry to become a pastor and immediately was called to walk with people suffering and ...

Drink Freedom Up

While my coffee was being brewed and my son was be-bopping around the house saying, "Bye, bye!" to every inanimate object, I had sewn together a perfect, inspiring little blog post in my head. As I googled the lyrics to the song, "Dawn to Dusk" by All the Sons & Daughters, up came the lyrics and several blog posts already done on the truth this song sings. Sigh. So, as the morning hours faded and my son went down for his every-now-and-then-never-regular morning nap, I tried to muster up some other blogging topic. And that's when it struck me: when sharing Jesus' truth, it is fact that it has, indeed, already been shared before.  ...

Hope Groups

by Erin Cushman Part of our mission here at Hope Mommies is to create community for women who have experienced infant loss. The word "community" is so trendy these days that it almost loses it's meaning. You don't have to be a great philosopher or student of sociology to see that people need people. They need someone to understand, to listen, to laugh and cry with, to "do life with"… we need someone to KNOW us. Our need of others is ultimately a mere reflection of our need for Christ. Hope Groups, our new 8 week small groups launching this fall, are our way of creating a more intentional, close knit community of women who have similar stories. ...

Beauty Will Rise

Grief is a funny thing. It makes you feel alone and isolated. Hope Mommies was born out of a group of women who went searching for others who were walking the same road. It is common to search the internet, read books, and listen to music that you identify with in your grief. To want to find others with stories similar to yours. To know that someone else has lost and come out the other side of grief alive. One of our favorite families in Christian entertainment did just that. Steven Curtis and Mary Beth Chapman lost a daughter to a tragic accident in 2008. Their story is heartbreaking and beautiful because the strength of their faith and the ...

Gwendolyn’s Story

by Erin Cushman   If you're a Hope Mom, talking about your children just isn't the easiest thing. Answering the question, "How many kids do you have?" or "Oh, too bad you don't have a girl!" or "Is this your first?" becomes complicated the moment it leaves the person's mouth. Any conversation becomes awkward as soon as death is introduced. How do you tell someone that your baby is in Heaven? How do you communicate the depth and gravity of that truth? If I cry, do you understand it better? If I don't, does she seem less important to me? When I tell her story, what do I want you to hear? My daughter Gwendolyn went to Heaven 36 hours after she ...

Landry’s Story

by Holly Steele My water broke on Saturday, July 24 at 5:15 am (That was the exact same time my water broke with Tyler) I was shocked and a little overwhelmed because Landry was going to be 2 weeks early and I did not have anything ready.. like a bag. I thought I had time so I rushed around like crazy while Ryan took a shower and shaved.... Who could shave and shower at time like this?!?! I was happy that I would finally get to see Landry and that precious face I had been dreaming about since last November. I was also excited thinking that Landry and Tyler's Birthdays would be two days apart. I was already planning on how they could share Birthda...
