Remembering the Heaven’s 27 One Year Later
On July 4, 2025, a historic and devastating flood swept through the Texas Hill Country. The flood claimed many lives, including 27 girls and young women who were attending and serving at a local camp, Camp Mystic. While Hope Mommies is dedicated to serving mothers who have experienced the loss of a baby, our hearts have been deeply broken by this tragedy, and we have grieved alongside the mothers of these daughters. We know the pain of losing a child, and the unimaginable loss these families have endured has left us heartbroken and praying for them.
This tragedy also felt close to home for our ministry. Hope Mommies was founded in the Texas Hill Country 15 years ago, and we have had multiple ministry partners in the area, including our candle partner, Comfort Candles. As news of the flood unfolded, Comfort Candles owner Ben Boubel grieved alongside us. Having partnered with Hope Mommies for many years and being familiar with the comfort our Hope Boxes provide, he approached us with the idea of creating Hope Boxes for these families.
Through the generosity of our donors, Comfort Candles, and Texas-based artist Haley Elizabeth Design, we have prepared personalized Hope Boxes for each of these 27 families. While we know no gift can lessen the pain of losing a beloved daughter, it is our prayer that these boxes remind the families that they are seen, loved, and not alone in their grief. Most of all, we pray they point them to the hope and comfort found in Christ.
Thank you to all who share your finances, resources and prayers with Hope Mommies. Because of you, we are able to extend the light of Christ into places of profound sorrow and walk alongside parents facing the unimaginable loss of a child.
