Local Chapter Spotlight: Brenham and College Station

What’s happening in Brenham and College Station:

In November 2016, we were approved to start a local Chapter of Hope Mommies in the Brenham & College Station area. Since then, we have been able to stock all three hospitals in the College Station area, Baylor Scott & White in Brenham, and local doctors offices in Brenham.

This year, the Lord has continued opening doors, and we have partnered with more doctors’ offices in the College Station area and several large Houston area hospitals to provide hope to families in Labor & Delivery and also the NICU experiencing loss. Our annual need for Hope Boxes continues to increase. This is heartbreaking yet exciting because we have such a huge opportunity to fill a need and provide biblical hope for grieving families.

  • In 2016, we distributed 75 boxes.
  • In 2017, we distributed 153 boxes.
  • In 2018, we plan to distribute a minimum of 300 boxes.

In the Fall of 2017, we hosted an in person Hope Group in the College Station area for Hope Moms to attend where we studied nine different aspects of God’s character.  It was a sweet time of fellowship, growth, encouragement, and sharing of our stories.  We plan to host the new study, Identity, for the women in our area this Fall. This will be an online/in person group. Even if you aren’t able to make our monthly in person meet-ups we would still love to have you join us!

We host Monthly Meet-ups in Brenham and in the College Station area. These are a great way to meet other Hope Mommies, share about your Hope Baby, receive encouragement, and walk through your grief journey with others who understand what you are facing. A cup of coffee, sweet treat or dinner doesn’t hurt either!

In October 2017, we hosted our first Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness event, and it was a huge success! The Lord moved in a mighty way and we were absolutely blown away by the turnout and the number of Hope Babies we were able to honor. This year we will be hosting our event on October 14th at the Dr. Bobbie M. Dietrich Memorial Amphitheatre on 2425 North Park Street in Brenham from 5:00-7:00 pm. We are excited to have a live concert by Flourish Creative who will be launching their Hope EP which will feature songs written by local artists specifically for Hope Mommies.

Hope Mom Testimonies:

“I went through the grief of not only losing my son but also my Daddy. Without the Hope that has been given through Hope Mommies I don’t think I could be making it through it all! The friendships and faith that I have been given and made will stay with me for a lifetime!

“I live about 1.5 hours away from College Station and about 2 from Brenham but I’m very thankful that the BCS chapter is within driving distance. Paige and the other sweet ladies in our chapter have blessed me with encouragements and affirmations of truths as I’ve walked through losing Julianne and then adding Judah to our family just a year later. I haven’t been able to get to know them as well as I would like because of the distance between us and the craziness of life but I feel confident that if I ever needed anything, I could call on any woman in our chapter, even those that I’ve only met once or twice. There’s a bond that we share as Hope Moms that I can’t quite explain. When I meet a mom that has walked through losing a child, I instantly feel closer to her. Having Hope Mommies and especially the BCS chapter has helped remind me of the hope we do have in Jesus and in seeing our children alive again one day. This chapter has helped me feel seen and not so isolated. No one in my regular life circle has experienced stillbirth, so at times the loneliness creeps in, the feeling that no one truly understands what’s going on in my heart. But I know there are a group of ladies just a text, Facebook message, or short drive away that could level with me. For that I am thankful!”

Pray for Brenham and College Station:
  • Pray for opportunities to cover new service areas and hospitals as we move into the Houston area. Pray that hospital administrators would be open to distributing biblically based content at their facilities.
  • Pray for new opportunities to reach women and families experiencing infant loss, and to be able to cultivate relationships as we share our hope in Christ.
  • Pray for wisdom as we organize our volunteer team as the demands of our chapter continue to grow.

Hope Mommies Chapters assist in our mission to share the Hope of Christ with bereaved mothers and families experiencing infant loss by serving their local communities through providing on-the-ground support in their geographical area.
