Local Chapter Spotlight: Central Texas

What’s happening in Central Texas:

The Central Texas Chapter of Hope Mommies was established in the fall of 2016 and is currently serving the areas of Temple/Belton, Waco, and Austin. It all started with a desire that a dear friend and I had to place Hope Boxes at the hospital where we both had delivered our stillborn sons. As we went through the process of hosting our first box gathering, Hope Mommies started advertising the creation of chapters to provide local, in-person support to Hope Moms. The Lord truly placed the desire on my heart to bring this ministry to central Texas and share the hope of Christ with hurting mothers. When I lost my son, Caleb, in 2012, I had amazing support from family and friends, but wasn’t involved in Hope Mommies until a year and half later. Hope Mommies truly transformed my grief journey, and my hope and prayer has been that other moms in our area would have immediate support after their loss.

God has grown our chapter in amazing ways to meet local needs since our creation two years ago. Our first year, we placed 45 Hope Boxes in one local hospital, and this year we have already put together over 200 Hope Boxes to be delivered to hospitals and individual moms, and we still have another Hope Box gathering scheduled before the year ends.

This year we have hosted in person Hope Group Bible studies in Temple and Waco. Our Temple moms are currently gathering to study the newest Hope Mommies Bible study, Identity. It is such an amazing time to get to know each other on a deeper level as we dive into God’s word together and examine how the truths found in the Bible shape who we are as Hope Moms.

We also host monthly gatherings in our three areas and enjoy the time of fellowship over dinner, coffee, or dessert. During the month of October, we have a special gathering to recognize pregnancy and infant loss awareness month. It’s a sweet time to honor our babies and celebrate their lives together.

This past June, we hosted our first 5K and one mile fun run at a park in Temple. We had an amazing turnout for a first year race, and raised much needed funds for our ministry. It was an absolutely beautiful morning running and walking in honor of our babies, and spreading awareness of our ministry in our community. We released balloons together and enjoyed delicious food from some local food trucks. We are already looking forward to planning another race next year.

The most important thing our chapter does is share the true hope of Christ with Hope Moms and provide a safe space for them to share about themselves and their babies. We have a special community where we love, laugh, pray, and cry together, and we strive to meet each Hope Mom wherever they are in their grief journey. While I wish there was no reason for this ministry, I’m so thankful for it and for the dear friends I’ve made that truly understand and seek Jesus in their grief alongside me. I look forward to seeing all the ways God will continue to use our chapter to share hope!

Hope Mom Testimonies:

“Hope Mommies has been the best way for me to connect with God and other Hope Mommies, and stay in touch with my own emotions. I have found many activities that feed my soul.

Hope Mommies was an answer to my prayers! When I lost my tiny baby at 11.5 weeks in pregnancy, the Hope Mommies Bible study I joined saved me. This group of women helped me to cry and heal within a loving, Christian family. It really was God who saved me, but this group helped me realize that I was not alone and that God had not forsaken me. Hope Mommies, and relationships I formed through Hope Mommies, continues to help me heal and be the best mommy I can be.”

“Despite having trusted the Lord and coming to baptism through my experience with my first miscarriage, after my second I felt so numb and confused. I became connected with the Central Texas Hope Mommies chapter through our church during that difficult time. I am so blessed to know this amazing group of moms who have helped me learn how to grieve with real hope and trust in our Savior more deeply in the midst of suffering.”

Pray for Central Texas:
  • Pray that the hurting moms in our community would find hope in Christ and encouragement from relationships with other Hope Moms and their families.
  • Pray for new opportunities to place Hope Boxes in local hospitals, particularly in Austin, and that hospital administrations would be open to distributing our biblical resources.
  • Pray for our volunteer team as the needs of our chapter continue to grow.

Hope Mommies Chapters assist in our mission to share the Hope of Christ with bereaved mothers and families experiencing infant loss by serving their local communities through providing on-the-ground support in their geographical area.

Good Morning, I am a local birth and bereavement doula and I was wondering if I could purchase and pick up a few boxes. I Have a family who’s precious new son is passing and I would like to have a box on hand for her and possibly a few more for the future. Thanks so much.
