Letter from Jennifer, Hope Mommies Director {Give a Latte GIVEAWAY}

It’s hard to believe that I have lived on this side of Heaven for almost 6 years without my daughter. When her heart stopped beating, I thought that mine would too. The sting of death is very real. I felt like the only person who had ever had a stillborn baby.  That was August 2010.  Little did I know that states away from me, only a few months later, another mama would be saying goodbye to her beloved daughter, too, and that years later we would connect and it would profoundly change my life.  When Erin Cushman said goodbye to her daughter on this earth, God put the mission and vision of Hope Mommies upon her heart and she was obedient.

What began as a group of 10 women looking for connection to other moms walking a similar grief journey, along with a yearning for biblical truth to wash over their sorrow, has turned into a nationwide non-profit ministry.  There are now almost 2,000 women who are a part of the Hope Mommies private Facebook community.  Hope Mommies currently offers a published bible study (Anchored), Retreats, Hope Boxes, Hope Groups, and Chapters, along with an amazing Blog and our Online Communities.

Hope Mommies is completely run by volunteers under the authority of our Father in Heaven.  It is the absolute joy of each and every one of our volunteers to come alongside the broken-hearted and share with them the abounding grace that’s available to them through Christ. A grace that allows their story redemption and endurance.

We seek to offer moms a safe place to share all aspects of their grief and to remember their Hope Babies with both joy and sorrow.  But most importantly, we strive to continually point their grieving hearts back to Jesus, the one true healer. I truly believe that whatever ugly, awful grief you carry in your heart – God can take it and transform it into something good. After all, isn’t it the thorns and thistles that often produce the most beautiful blooms?

It is estimated that 1 in 4 pregnancies will end in devastating loss.  With a statistic like this, if you have not personally had to bury a child, chances are that a friend, sister, cousin, or woman from your church or gym has or will.  At Hope Mommies it is our desire to educate as many as will listen on the mission of Hope Mommies, so that when the unthinkable happens to someone you know, you will know where to turn to offer them support.

Suffering is to be expected in this life, and since babies do still die in the womb or shortly after birth, Hope Mommies continues to be a much needed ministry; but Hope Mommies needs funding to keep serving these moms with empty arms.  If Hope Mommies has impacted your life or touched your heart in any way, would you join me in donating $5 or $10 per month to this much needed ministry?
