Hebrews 6:19

"We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul."

When your hope feels like an old dress worn thin W When your hope feels like an old dress worn thin
When your boat is sinking and you're too tired to swim
When you're looking around for Jesus but you can't find him
And you wish that He'd wake up to make things right again

When you don't get the miracle
That you've been praying for
And you don't want to praise the Lord
He is with you just the same
And when all the lights go out
And your whole world's falling apart
Jesus holds your broken heart
He never left you, He is with you in the dark

Joy and grief often walk hand in hand for Hope Mom Joy and grief often walk hand in hand for Hope Moms. In this episode, Erin Thibodeaux joins Kristin Hernandez to share her motherhood journey—the excitement of expecting twins and the devastating loss of her daughter, Adalyn Layne, who lived just 26 days.

Together, they talk about the complexities of grieving one child while raising another, the unique challenges of parenting through sorrow, and the ways God’s presence and the compassion of others have met @erinethib in her deepest pain. With honesty and grace, Erin reflects on the tension of joy and grief coexisting, the role of faith in her healing, and how community—especially through Hope Mommies—helped her feel seen, supported, and strengthened.

Episode 44: Holding Joy and Grief Together: Finding Comfort in God and Community After Twin Loss with Erin Thibodeaux is now available wherever you listen to podcasts and at hopemommies.org/podcast.
There is something holy about grief. Not because i There is something holy about grief. Not because it feels good or because we understand it—but because God meets us there.

We often feel pressure to move past our sorrow. To find the silver lining. To clean up our tears and point to hope before we’ve even had time to weep.

But the heart of our God is not one who rushes us past our pain.

Jesus is not afraid of your sorrow.
He won’t hurry you through it.
He won’t minimize it.
He won’t say “at least.”
He will just sit beside you.
He will weep with you.
He will hold your broken heart in His hands and whisper, “I’m here.”
There will be a time for hope. There will be a time for joy. But maybe today is the day for lament.

And that’s okay.
