Identity: We Are Conquerors

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”
-Romans 8:37

What exactly does it mean to be more than conquerors? The definition of a conqueror is a person who vanquishes; in other words a victor.

Training:

Picture an army of warriors who become victorious after a battle. How did they get to that point? They trained, they strategized, and they studied their opponent. They most importantly became confident in their leader and themselves.

How should we expect to become victorious in our Christian walk? First we must become confident in our Savior, the one whom ultimately already won the battle for us on the cross. It’s also important for us to become assured in our identity through Christ. This is where the training and strategy comes into play. The most important tool we have for this is the Word of God. He has given us complete instructions on how to conquer. Diving in daily, imprinting His words in our hearts, and being prepared for battle is what is necessary. When we fully know how God would have us respond in trials and hardships, we can have a firm plan of action in those times. Knowing the enemy and where he lurks is also a tactic we should use. We must “take … the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” like Paul tells us to in Ephesians 6:17. Satan and his demons are powerless and flee in terror when confronted by the superior power of the Truth of God’s Word. These are strategies that set us up for victory. When your walk is close with Christ, you aren’t constantly daunted that things may not go as you had planned and when those plans are shifted you may be wholeheartedly disappointed and grieved, but you won’t be completely flattened in your faith.

It is important for us to understand that no matter how bad our circumstance may hurt and how much we may want to just retreat, we must be confident in the fact that there is nothing that is too big for Him!

“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”
-1 John 4:4

Battle:

“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”
-Philippians 4:13

In Christ, we are made right with God. The more we train in God’s Word and in prayer, the better we can access His wisdom and strength in the difficult times. This isn’t a swift battle, this is a learned behavior that develops our soul to withstand the devastation and grief.

God has so much more for us than this! Than longing for what could’ve been, than dreaming of what’s missing, or praying for our desires over His. When we experience loss we can lay our pain at the foot of the cross.   Yes, you need to leave it there, don’t pick it right back up. Push it, dust it, scrape it off of you so intensely that you could never imagine snatching it back for yourself. Know that you are able to move forward, because of the blood of Jesus, in victory and grace. We WILL hold our babies again and with Him we WILL “do all things” to push on until that time comes.

I encourage you, dear sister, to learn who God truly is and what Jesus has ultimately done. Knowing the truth, that God is so very good, we do not have to be tormented with the questions of, “Does He truly care?”

No matter where we are in our loss journey, God knows exactly what we need. When we seek Him, we will infinitely find Him. If we give Him our sorrows and complete His instructions in His Word, we can access His overcoming love, grace, and power and be “more than conquerors!” I’m alive, you’re alive, He’s alive, and so are our Hope Babies! Rise up conquerors!
