Giving Tuesday 2021

Did you know that 2021 marked ten years in nonprofit ministry for Hope Mommies? I have been serving with the organization for eight of those ten, and it has been an immense privilege from my vantage point.

Over the past decade Hope Mommies has:

• Placed 19,895 Hope Boxes into the hands of grieving mothers.
• Discipled 1,781 women through Hope Groups.
• Encouraged, loved, and served a total of 902 women at our Retreats.
• And equipped our community with biblical wisdom, by publishing a total of 975 blog posts.

My team and I will continue to look up and seek His face, while moving our hands and feet to reach grieving mothers. As we look ahead to 2022, we’re excited to see what God will invite us to do next, and as our ministry expands, so too, does our need for cherished friends like you who make all of these incredible results possible. Hope Boxes are one of the most beloved areas of the Hope Mommies ministry. A Hope Box is usually the main point of contact a bereaved mother has with us. Whether she received the box as a gift in the hospital quickly after delivery, or the box was mailed to her home a few weeks later, it is a gentle reminder that she isn’t alone because there is God who sees and cares for her in the brokenness, and that there is a community of women walking similar grief journeys waiting to hear all about her little one when she is ready.

In honor of our tenth anniversary, we have redesigned our Hope Box into a beautifully curated box of gifts and resources, which are custom and identifiable as a Hope Mommies gift. These new boxes contain: an ESV Bible, a Heaven Booklet (Randy Alcorn), Bright Hope (30-day grief devotional written by our founder, Erin Cushman), a custom journal, a bookmark, worship music, a handwritten note, and our brochure, along with various comfort and pampering gifts such as: tea, lotion, lip care, a wristband bracelet, a candle, and a custom mug. We pray this refreshed take on our original Hope Box brings beauty and encourages grieving well, while pointing to the hope of Christ, which will sustain for years to come.

I’d also like to introduce you to a new product in the Hope Box family, the One Year Closer Box. This box is intended to be a gift that holds space for a mother’s grief as she celebrates her hope baby’s calendar milestones. Acknowledging these tender and sacred days can bring great comfort, but we also know that the days leading up to a hope baby’s birthday, heaven day, or due date can be a heavy battle. We pray this box can be a small measure of encouragement in tender moments, as she remembers her hope baby’s special days on this earth; and that it serves as a reminder, that because of the hope of the gospel, she is One Year Closer.

This special box comes with a candle (that smells like birthday cake!) and eight carefully curated advent cards to give encouragement on the days it’s needed most. We pray this box will be a beautiful reminder that she and her baby matter so much to the Lord and He is near to her as she celebrates and remembers.

Jennie is the Executive Director for Hope Mommies. She and her husband Brian live in Washington State and have four precious children together— Trenton, Paige who has been in Heaven with Jesus since August 2, 2010, Mason, and Cora Jane. If you were to knock on her front door today, you’d find her in jeans and a t-shirt drinking a hot cup of tea (and she’d offer you one too!) while trying to figure out how to balance all the things – like spending time in God’s word, tending to her home, pruning her roses, serving with Hope Mommies, and online schooling with her kids! She adores being a new creation in Christ and prays she reflects Him well on this earth.
