Get to Know Her: 2019 Retreat Speaker

How many times have you heard someone say, “Oh, that just breaks my heart,” when looking at a picture of a mistreated puppy? I know I have. And I thought my heart was broken when the boy I had a crush on didn’t ask me to the school dance.

December 24, 1995 was the day my husband, two young daughters, and I were anticipating welcoming our newest family member—a baby boy! We had presents under the tree and were waiting. On December 15, Zachary Robert was stillborn due to a “one in 10 million” amniotic band cord accident. Our lives—and the lives of my parents, our extended family, and even our daughter who was born later—were forever changed in that moment. That was the day I learned what a broken heart really is. But I also took comfort in the Lord and knew He was still with me.

The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart.” Psalms 34:18

At the moment of Zach’s death, I chose not to be defined by my loss, but to be known for my hope—the hope of Christ. Hope mommies have a unique perspective. We have experienced the hope of a child turning into the hope of heaven.

I have lived for over 23 years as a hope mommy and desire to always bring a message of hope. I look forward to being with you in October and am excited to see what the Lord will do in each of our lives during the weekend.

Registration for the Fall Hope Mommies Retreat is now open! We would love to spend a weekend remembering, hoping, and growing in Christ with you. Learn all of the details –HERE
