Bright Hope: Book Release (And a Giveaway!)

Hope Mommies is excited to announce that our founder, Erin Cushman’s, new book, Bright Hope: 28 Daily Devotions for Grief in Light of the Gospel is now available for purchase! Find it at Amazon here. Bright Hope was written to give hope and encouragement to those in mourning. Centered around biblical truth, drawing on historical expressions of faith through hymns and poetry, and infused with personal experiences, Bright Hope is for anyone journeying through the lonely shadows caused by grief and toward the light of the gospel of Jesus.

The following is an excerpt from the introduction of Bright Hope, giving you a glimpse into Erin’s heart behind writing this devotional and a picture of the gospel-centered truths found in its pages.

My hope for this devotional is that it will help and encourage you to redirect your heart and mind to meditate on what is good, find company in the “cloud of witnesses” who have gone before us through their poetry and song, and ultimately lead you to the comfort and hope found solely in the person of Jesus Christ.

I am praying that through this small offering from a fellow pilgrim, you will come to a deeper understanding of these words from 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17:

“Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.”

Because He lives, I hope,

READER TESTIMONIES:

“Erin has a beautiful story and heart for grieving moms, and has walked in the valley with many. This book is another way she has invited the grieving mom to look to our King Jesus for healing.”
-Makenzie V, Hope Mom to Lily

“Bright Hope is like a big ray of the Lord’s sunshine right to my soul. Erin has written words from the Lord in this book, and I’m blessed to take them into my heart.”
-Meghan S, Hope Mom to Madeline, Emerson, Finley, and Skye

“These quick devotionals have been so good for my healing heart; easy to pick up, briefly read, and ponder through the day.”
-Hannah S, Hope Mom to Samuel

“This is a great devotional for those who are from deep in the beginning stages of grief, to someone, like me, who is a few years out. The first week “Come” is amazing. God just wants us to come to Him however we are.”
-Laura M, Hope Mom to Noah and Viktor

“Reading Bright Hope has blessed me beyond measure! I appreciate how this book came alongside me as a friend, rather than trying to teach or train me how to grieve. I loved the hope-filled, Scripture-saturated and compassionate daily devotionals (which were bite-sized and easy to fit in a busy schedule). I’ve also loved the beautiful songs and hymns it has introduced me to along the way! Since my first read-through, I‘ve continued to come back to the timeless refreshment within these pages. I trust it will be bringing me, “strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow” for many years to come.
-Laura V, Hope Mom to Jean, Samuel, and Elijah

“Bright Hope is truly that—hope—for any grieving, disappointed, or discouraged heart. For those, like me, who have experienced great disappointment and heartache, a devotional like “Bright Hope” is a helpful, healing balm of truth. The daily readings are concise, powerful, and biblically rich with truth and encouragement. It is a much-needed resource in the world for those whose hearts have been shattered by unmet expectations or grief. If you are hurting for any reason, the truths penned in “Bright Hope” will meet you in the valley and walk you forward, one gentle, healing step at a time.”
-Elizabeth B, Hope Mom to Jordan Emmanuel, Jonathan Patrick, and Samuel Paul

Bright Hope has reminded me of how good God is in the midst of my fresh grief. I’ve grieved children before, but just before receiving this book, I began grieving our 6th precious child that’s left us too soon. At a time that it felt like God had abandoned me, I was given the sweet reminder that He never did abandon me. He has been with my the entire time, speaking life into my heart. It’s even helped bring more peace than I realized I needed for the grief I’ve felt over our other precious babies. I’m so thankful this book was placed in my hands, and for the healing it’s brought me by pointing me back to the ultimate comforter.

    This sounds fabulous!!!

I so wish I had this back in 2013 but I would still love this for the month leading up to my daughter Jubilee’s birthday. What a great way to focus on what God did by using my body to bring her eternal life.
