Gift of Hope is a ministry of Hope Mommies, established in memory of Simon Eugene Griff, the firstborn son of Andy and Megan Griff, who was called Home to Jesus at just 23 days old.

The death of a child is devastating, and along with the immense grief and heartache often comes the weight of medical bills. Even with insurance, out-of-pocket expenses can feel overwhelming. Gift of Hope exists to come alongside grieving families with financial grants, in hopes of lifting part of this burden.

Grief is enough to carry on its own. Our prayer is to walk with you in your sorrow while pointing to Christ as our sufficiency in all things.
Financial assistance can be applied for now. Please read the requirements and application carefully before submitting. The link to apply is located in the “Application Requirements” section below.

May Jesus hold you near.

History

Simon Eugene Griff was born January 18, 2016, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Shortly after his birth, doctors discovered severe heart defects requiring immediate surgery. At ten days old, Simon underwent surgery in Denver, Colorado. Though the procedure was successful, his heart stopped unexpectedly in the days following, and he was ultimately unable to separate from life support. Simon went Home to Jesus on February 10, 2016.

When Andy and Megan returned home with empty arms, medical bills had already begun arriving in the mail. Yet, through the overwhelming generosity of family, friends, and coworkers, their needs were providentially met. This outpouring of love became the seed for Gift of Hope—a ministry now carried forward by Hope Mommies in Simon’s memory.

The Griffs’ prayer remains that grieving families would experience the nearness of Christ, who brings comfort in our deepest sorrow.

Application Requirements

Though we wish we had the resources to ensure that no family ever had to shoulder their Hope Baby’s medical expenses, we are currently limited in who we are able to assist. Please know that you and your Hope Baby are of immense value to Hope Mommies—and even more so to God, who weeps with us in our grief. We ache with you over the unique circumstances of your loss.

  • Miscarriage (1-20 weeks gestation)
  • Stillbirth (20-40 weeks gestation)
  • Death of a live-born infant, up to age one
  • Medical expenses accrued within the United States
  • Proof of medical insurance
  • Annual household income of less than $75,000

A Message from Hope Mommies

We are so heartbroken that you have reason to be here. Medical bills for a baby you did not bring home, or who came home and did not stay, are a heavy and unexpected reminder of all that should have been. While we cannot change the painful reality of your loss, we pray that the Gift of Hope may ease this burden as you face life without your dearly loved baby.

We long for the day when this ministry is no longer needed because Christ has returned and destroyed death forever. Until then, Hope Mommies will continue to walk alongside grieving families, offering comfort, community, and the hope of the gospel. You are loved.

Because He lives, we hope,
The Hope Mommies Team

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort, too.”
2 Corinthians 1:3-5, ESV
